在4月11日举办的颁奖典礼上，李安（Ang Lee）被授予第74届英国电影学院奖 (BAFTA) 终身成就奖。
继2010年“超级玛丽之父”宫本茂和2020年知名日本游戏制作人小岛秀夫之后，李安成为了第三位获得此殊荣的亚洲人，他也是首位获得此奖项的华人导演。
BAFTA素来有英国奥斯卡之称，BAFTA电影委员会主席Marc Samuelson就授予李安这一荣誉表示：
"Ang Lee is a master of his craft, he is an incredibly versatile, daring and exceptional filmmaker who effortlessly moves between genres.
李安是他自己艺术领域的大师，他有着令人难以置信的才华，胆识，并且作为与众不同的电影人，他一直不遗余力的去尝试不同种类的影片和题材。
"His films have been truly ground-breaking both in terms of their technical expertise and for the subject matters he tackles. His pioneering work in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Brokeback Mountain and Life of Pi and so many other titles not only showcase his technical ability and deep understanding of the filmmaking process, but also his ability to infuse every story – no matter how epic or simple—with humanizing characters we can all relate to on an emotional level through his exceptional work. We are thrilled to present him with BAFTA's highest honour."
他的电影在专业技术层面和题材内容上都具有开拓性的意义。《卧虎藏龙》、《断背山》、《少年派的奇幻漂流》等影片，不仅体现了他前瞻性的创举，更是展现了他的专业技巧、对电影制作融会贯通的理解，无论是荡气回肠的叙事还是言简意赅的短片，他都能讲好每一个故事，赋予人物人性，并在情感层面上达到一个新高度。我们很荣幸，在这里为他授予BAFTA的最高荣誉终身成就奖。
在接受这一荣誉时，李安说道：
“I’m humbled to be counted amongst such brilliant filmmakers. It’s overwhelming.
能在众多出色的电影人中间被选中，我受宠若惊。这样的荣誉对我而言的意义是巨大的。
“England has been particularly good to me in my career. Britain was the only market where The Ice Storm made any money.
英格兰在我的职业生涯上扮演了重要的角色，英国票房是我的《冰风暴》（李安曾表示这是他最满意的一部作品）唯一盈利的市场。
“And of course, Sense And Sensibility, which was like a second film school for me – I could only communicate in short sentences.
当然了，《理智与情感》对我而言就像第二堂电影课。当时的我只能用简单的英文在片场做交流。
“But my British colleagues were super-patient and kind to me. I owe so much to them because after Sense And Sensibility, I dared to venture into many other types of movies.”
但我的英国同事给予了我莫大的耐心和善意。我对他们充满了感激，因为在《理智与情感》之后，我涉足了许许多多其他类型的电影。
